the waterpumps are not that dear either and are very easy to change, the worst bit is removing the vuiscous coupling (I wedged a screw driver between the viscous nut and one of the bolts in the pully to hold the pully still, and then used a large adjustable spanner to undo the viscous (remember it is reverse threadedso you have to turn it clockwise to undo it))

yer ive done one on my e30, the rad makes good use for a cheese (kuckle) grater lol.

im going to buy the water pump and viscous fan part.. for the sake of it and new belt for that part too

i just prey to god its that

the guy who owns it is a good friend of mine, hes had it 5 years, as far as im aware he hasnt ever changed them two parts. i know it has a new rad and thermostat as the old rad leaked at the plastic part.

cool, ill bring it down but stuck a long screw driver on the water pump hosung and you can hear it rattling and ticking like a coont and not only that you can wiggle it from side to side a good 2-3mm, im half thinking about a electric fan convo to save extra wear on the pump again plus free up some strain on the car

yer, i have plans actually i always keep meaning to do a write up. ive got the plans on pb but never actually got round to doing it

just spent £55 on a water pump so will get that in tomorrow. i hope the fan aint to much hassle to undo!

would the bearings in the the viscous fan make that sound and cause play??

just my mate that owns the car is adement that he has used some gt85 in the past to stop them making noise, but its not like a squeaking noise but actually sounds like bearing running round and rattling. he says he replaced the water pump 2 years back which was around the time he replaced the rad and thermostat

well to my delight it was the water pump, but the vanos is making a noise. if its ment to be like that i dunno but its far from loud or rattly
