Dont use ECP bushes mate, they are cack. Get the genuine ones from the dealers. They are only a couple of pounds more, but much much better

If your brake fluid level has not dropped it will be fluid leaking past the seals in the master cylinder. If the seals are perished giving the pedal some abuse will totally f*ck them eventually, another sign of perished seals is murky/brown/black fluid and tiny black bits in the fluid.

Vanos is a very good system, the problems start when oil services are neglected, poor oil is used, and hard driving without reducing the oil change intervals.

Its a vanos engine with a non vanos head, I used the vanos case on the front as I dont have a non vanos cam cover/gasket
